Rock of ages

The  CF property is located on a sandstone base which is covered by a little black dirt and some sand.  So peel back the top just a little and there it is.  Sandstone with time and enormous pressure finally emerges as quartz and quartzite over 1000's of years.  In between it also produced the limestone blocks that made this wall and many others in the Cannon Falls area.  6 or 7 trips to limekiln hill produced what Dad designed and what I modified.  Add acid wash and sitting with a wire brush and electric drill for a week or so that was needed to clean the face and....now just shovel out the topsoil and prepare a grade for next year when I bring 5 tons of Chilton flagstone, at our place in MG, down and set a patio.

After returning from Winnie and our yearly fishing trip on about 22 June we were greeted with a mud bog we like to call the downstairs in CF.  It has taken till 4 AUG dig out, a back injury, extra help, free materials, massive shovel work, water bars, rr ties, sealing walls, patching holes, placing drainage runs, cheap gutters (temp nailed in), taking a breath now.....also removing the rugs, pads, old tiles, Styrofoam, 3/4 inch particle mounted over furring strips, concrete nails, trim and tack strips and recovering what we could and replacing the rest.  Not to mention a little mold control.  The drainage work will remain but everything else will be torn out again and replaced in the future.  It is a little humorous to travel so far and find yourself about where you started from.  So, nothing new here.
